Field Investigation Observations

Land Use

On-site Landuse
Bancroft Village, consisting of older brick town homes, is found on the site of this tannery. Large trees and substantial grass areas surround these structures.

Adjacent Landuse
The area around this site is older large brick homes set back from the street. Bancroft Parkway is a true parkway with open space over 100 feet in width dividing north and south bound lanes. A freight rail line marks the rear of the complex.

Presence of Children

Although no children were observed on three site visits, it can safely be assumed that children reside on the site and in the surrounding community.

Exposed Soil

The area is very well landscaped and exposed soil is not common. Large grass areas and landscaped islands surround the apartments. Many residents have very well maintained garden and landscaped areas particularly around backyard patios.
