Field Investigation Observations

Land Use

On-site Landuse
This area is a DART parking area. An I-95 bridge abutment that is fenced and filled with overgrown vegetation dominates the historic tannery extent.

Adjacent Landuse
The DART bus facility and parking areas dominate the immediate area to the north, east and south. West on the other side of I-95 is a large area of row houses begins. Large residential areas are also found further northeast of the site beginning of the corner of Monroe and 2nd Streets.

Presence of Children

While children do live in the surrounding neighborhoods a barbwire-topped fence surrounds the majority of this site. There is very little area to play. Nearby open space (including Sites T39 & T40) are much more conducive to recreation.

Exposed Soil

The majority of the site is overgrown vegetation behind a high fence. A narrow slope of exposed soil is found along Adams Street that may be used as a place for adolescents or adults to relax.
