Field Investigation Observations

Land Use

On-site Landuse
The location of this historic tannery is primarily used for parking. One structure stands on the western side of the lot that may date back to tannery operations. With the exception of tree planters the entire property is paved or structure.

Adjacent Landuse
The area around this site is primarily commercial uses with a small area of residential use and a new apartment building (Site T21) to the southwest. More parking is found to the north and east of the site. Southeast of the site is a parking area (Site T10) and a small grass and soil area (200 W 5th Street & 423-425 N Orange Street). West across Tatnall Street are commercial enterprises and the St. Peters Catholic School.

Presence of Children

Few children live in the immediate area of this site. The St. Peters Catholic School is located across Tatnall Street, but students have little if any interaction with this fenced off site.

Exposed Soil

The only areas on site not paved are tree planters along Tatnall, 5th and Orange Streets.
